Which components does the Specialized Diverge use?
For the components, the Americans rely on several partners with excellent reputations in the cycling world. They also use components from the subsidiary Roval in addition to their in-house products.
When it comes to the groupsets you’ll usually find a rear derailleur from SRAM. The Specialized Diverge Elite E5 for example has the Shimano GRX RX400 installed though. There are differing opinions on how many chainrings are needed. Sportier riders who use 2 chainrings on their bike are generally happy about the smaller switching jumps.
The brakes make use of the newer technology of disc brakes and rim brakes. The latter as the name suggests works on the rim in conjunction with brake pads. They are also built into just about every older bike from all manufacturers. It’s only recently that disc brakes have grown in popularity, simply due to the fact that they have better braking performance. Even in adverse weather conditions, particularly when wet, they still outperform the rim brake. The brake disc doesn’t drag on the rim when the wheelset is bent and provides less wear overall.
The wheelset uses rims from Roval, Axis or DT Swiss. Roval is a subsidiary of Specialized, which is considered a market leader when it comes to components. A wheelset consists of a front tire and a rear wheel.
