Scott Addict - Excellent bikes that make your excursions an experience.
Scott was originally founded in the USA in 1958, but is now based in Switzerland. It all started with skiing and then, via motorsport, they ended up making bikes, which have earned an increasingly good reputation in the cycling scene. The company was founded by Ed Scott and had an ingenious developer in Charley French, who, among other things, designed the first aerodynamic handlebars, which were then also used in Greg Lemond's 1989 Tour de France victory. In addition to the Addict bikes, Scott also has other road bikes, gravel bikes and Contessa women's bikes in its range. In addition, mountain bikes, city bikes, children's bikes and e-bikes are also offered. The e-bikes are divided into road, mountain, city and touring bikes. The Addict bikes are available as road and gravel bikes and there are also some models for women. The Contessa bikes were designed by an own design team with previous experience regarding the preferences of women and the colours for the bikes were chosen accordingly. Furthermore, when choosing the components, attention was paid to the possible differences in the contact points of a woman's body. Depending on the model, Addict bikes are available in different frame sizes, some of which start at XXS and end at XXL, so that there is something for both taller and shorter riders. However, some of the bikes are only available in frame sizes XS to XL. For road bikes, you have the choice between the lightweight Scott Addict RC or the Endurance Addict bikes. The Addict RC convinces with its low weight and lets you glide smoothly over gravel roads as well as forest and meadow paths and impresses with improved aerodynamics with top speeds on the road. It is available as Scott Addict RC Pro, Addict RC Ultimate, Addict RC 10, Addict RC 15 Carbon Black, Addict RC 15 Komodo Green, Addict RC 20, Scott Addict RC 30, Addict RC 40 as well as a women's bike with the Scott Contessa Addict RC 15. In addition to the improved aero characteristics, the carbon frame has been designed in such a way that it is UCI-compliant and can also be used by ambitious amateur athletes. Thanks to the "Eccentric Bicycle Fork Shaft", the Addict RC has a high stiffness at the head tube and thus also has the cabling fully integrated, regardless of whether electric or mechanical gears are used. This also looks even better and reduces noise when riding. The best thing about it is that it happens without any loss of power and the cable is also less susceptible to maintenance because it is protected from the weather. For the geometry of the carbon frame as well as the saddle, professional cyclists and established companies alike were consulted in order to obtain the best possible geometry or shape through their expertise and data sets. The Endurance Addicts include the Scott Addict 30 Prism Grey, Scott Addict 30 Red, Addict 40, Scott Contessa Addict 15, Contessa Addict 25 and the Contessa Addict 35. Endurance bikes stand for speed and comfort in equal measure, with which even long stages are no problem. The Gravel Addicts also include several Scott Addict bikes, such as the Scott Addict Gravel Tuned Bike, Addict Gravel 10 Bike, Addict Gravel 20 Bike, Addict Gravel 30 Bike or the Contessa Addict Gravel 15 Bike for female riders. With a gravel bike you have the opportunity to perform at your best on the asphalt and, with the right tyres, it also gives you the chance to explore new routes off the regular roads. The Addicts are also available as e-road bikes, such as the Addict eRide 10, Scott Contessa Addict eRide 15 or the Addict eRide Ultimate.
Each Scott Addict is equipped with excellent components.
When selecting the component manufacturers, nothing was left to chance and the precision and robustness of well-known brands such as SRAM, Shimano, Syncros or Schwalbe are trusted.
Derailleur groups & brakes
The rear derailleur, shifter, front derailleur, bottom bracket and other components are part of the shifting group. These can either be bought as a whole unit or selected from the individual components of different series to make the bike as individual as possible. To do this, people like to use high-quality components from SRAM and Shimano, such as the SRAM Red eTap AXS, SRAM Force XG, SRAM Force eTap AXS, Shimano Ultegra, Shimano Ultegra and the 105 and Dura Ace series from the Japanese.
For the Addict bikes, Scott uses efficient disc brakes because of their better braking performance. They are less susceptible to weather conditions than rim brakes, for example, and also require less power to brake. Especially in mud and wet conditions, disc brakes are almost as powerful as in dry conditions, where rim brakes have considerable disadvantages. The brakes include the SRAM Red eTap AXS HRD Shift-Brake System Flatmount in combination with the SRAM Centerline XR Rotor brake discs.
Shock
The Addict bikes do not have an additional suspension system, as the HMF or HMX frames already offer a very good riding experience due to their high stiffness. If required, the Addict Gravel bikes can be upgraded with a suspension fork, so that you don't have to rely on a mountain bike for more demanding terrain.
Saddle / Seatpost & Handlebar / Wheels
The choice of saddle as well as seat post usually falls on Syncros, such as the Syncros Belcarra Regular SL or Syncros Tofino Regular 2.0 Channel saddle as well as the Syncros Duncan SL Aero and Syncros RR1.2 seat post.
For handlebars and stems, the top-class components from Syncros are also popular, such as the Creston 2.0 Compact handlebar and the Syncros RR 2.0 stem.
For the wheelset, the Syncros RP2.0 Disc is used, as well as the DT Swiss GRC1100 Disc, SL Syncros Axle w Removable Lever with Tool. For the tyres, the choice falls mainly on Schwalbe, such as the Schwalbe One Fold, which have enjoyed an excellent reputation for years and are therefore also used by many other premium manufacturers.
Additional equipment
What you should always have on your bike is a bottle cage incl. water bottle and if you are planning a longer trip, you can add a bag for the top tube to your shopping basket. Scott has a very large selection of all kinds of accessories and also has its own department for women's, men's and children's clothing, as well as its own collection, such as the Contessa Signature or the Cross-Country for men.
But do you prefer the lightweight Scott Addict RC or an Addict Gravel Bike?
In addition to the Addict bikes, Scott also offers other road bikes, such as endurance bikes or aero bikes. Furthermore, they also have a broad segment of mountain bikes, which is divided into cross-country, enduro, trail, downhill / dirt and sport. The biggest difference here is the frame geometry and suspension travel, which vary greatly depending on whether the bike mainly has to master downhill rides or also has to climb steeper climbs again and again. In addition to the Addict bikes, the gravel bikes also include a larger selection of Scott Speedster models, which are very suitable for bikepacking, for example. The City & Trekking bikes are versatile, from longer trips at the weekend to universal means of transport in the immediate vicinity, whether to work or quickly to the nearest lake in the summer.
In addition to the Addict e-bikes, Scott also offers other motorised bikes in the mountain bike, gravel, city and women's categories. The MTBs are divided into trail, sport and enduro mountain bikes, while the e-racing bikes are currently limited to the Addict models. The E-Trekking bikes can easily be used for tours lasting several days, while the E-City bikes are best suited for everyday use, such as going shopping or riding to school with the children. Scott also has its own children's department, which is divided into 3 different categories. Firstly, there are the Future Pro bikes, which are already equipped with higher quality components, and then there are bikes for school children and toddlers.
Regardless of which section you are in and come across a Contessa bike, you can be sure that these bikes have been specially designed for women. If you still have any questions, don't hold back, because this can be decisive for choosing the right bike in the end. Therefore, we strongly recommend that you contact us at buycyle.co.uk at any time so that we can help you.
