The Cannondale Scalpel gives you the possibility of multiple uses
Not even a Marathon World Champion could find fault with the Scalpel:
Henrique Avancini, who won the 2018 World Championship in the marathon, is enthusiastic about the Cannondale Scalpel. He describes himself as very critical and tries to find faults on the bikes. With the Scalpel, however, he had to admit that this time he was not lucky.
The Scalpel is available as XC MTB and trail bike
Here Cannondale offers you the opportunity to choose between two uses. The Scalpel is designed for XC racing. With the Scalpel SE you can focus on the trails. Pedals are not included in the basic equipment. Each version you can choose as a frameset and equip individually.
Cross-Country Scalpel
The carbon frame is made of Ballistec Carbon and weighs under 2 kg, 1910 grams to be exact. With this low weight you get one of the lighter XC frames on the market.
An ultra-modern suspension comes into play with FlexPivot technology. The ingenious design has flexible chainstays that allow you higher speeds. In addition, you sit more confident in the saddle, as the bike gives you better traction. The amazing thing is that the FlexPivot technology is not even a big deal. You don't have to worry about maintenance, and they offer greater stiffness than standard ball bearings. Lighter they are also, which puts you in the best position in competitions.
In the suspension fork, which is, among other things, the Lefty Ocho, the suspension travel is 100 millimeters. The Lefty fork has also been used in World Cup victories and is one of the flagships of Cannondale.

Trail bike Scalpel SE
The modern frame impresses with lightness as well as stiffness and you reach high speeds. It gives you good stability to be able to attack the trails. The handling is still very agile and you will certainly experience pure driving pleasure.
It combines the advantages of an XC bike, with the advantage of a longer suspension travel. This is rear and front 120 mm, which tempts to plow the trails. From the components you can get more out to sweep playful and aggressive at the same time through the forest.

Since Cannondale offers you a wide range of models, the range of components is not surprising. In addition to the in-house development work, they rely on a number of high-quality component manufacturers. These include sizes such as Shimano, SRAM, DT Swiss or Formula Racing. With the respective framesets you can let off steam and equip it as you like.
Derailleur groups & brakes
Derailleur groups: From Shimano, among others, the Shimano Deore, Shimano XT and Shimano SLX are used. From SRAM, the SRAM X01 Eagle AXS or the SRAM GX Eagle are used. Depending on the model year, the selection of the shifting groups varies. In the frameset, you can combine the products of some series with each other for shifters, crank, rear derailleur and other parts.
Brakes: The hydraulic disc brakes ensure that you reach your braking points precisely. Among other things, the SRAM Level TLM hydraulic disc brake is used, with 160/160 mm CenterLine rotors.
Damper
For the suspension fork, the RockShox SID Select is used in addition to the Lefty Ocho. For the suspension at the rear, for example, the RockShox SIDLuxe Select+ is installed. It has a mode with two positions and the Adjustable Rebound function.
Other products of equal quality can be found from Fox Factory. At the rear, the Fox Float DPS Performance Elite EVOL damper with remote lockout will give you a faithful service. For the fork, the Fox Float Performance 32 offers itself very well.
RockShox, which belongs to SRAM, and Fox Factory both enjoy an excellent reputation. You will find them with a large number of manufacturers in the premium segment.
Cockpit
Saddle: Here you will find mainly Cannondale products, such as the Cannondale Scoop Shallow Elite.

Wheels: Among the rims you will find the HollowGram 25, with hubs from Formula and DT Swiss.
Tires: As a front tire, the Maxxis Ardent makes a good figure and at the rear wheel the Maxxis Recon Race. Both tires are Tubeless Ready, which makes them less susceptible to flats. The Schwalbe Racing Ray EVO and Schwalbe Racing Ralph EVO are also tubeless ready.
Additional equipment
A bottle cage incl. water bottle always looks good in your shopping cart. In addition, you should still consider protective clothing, which saves you one or the other bruise. Cannondale offers a good selection of bike parts, helmets and accessories for several areas.
Do I take the Scalpel XC MTB or the Trailbike SE variant
This depends on whether you want more down the slopes, or cross-country through the countryside. In addition to the Scalpel SE Cannondale has other trail bikes on offer. Furthermore, you will find Enduro bikes that give you an even greater kick on descents. With a dirt jump bike you have the best fun on pump tracks or in the skate park.
The classic road bike lets you fly over the asphalt. An endurance bike offers you the necessary comfort for long distances. A gravel bike you can use on and off the road. With the right choice of tires, full throttle is everywhere on the program. In addition, you can still use it for bikepacking tours, if you attach sufficient possibilities for storage. Day trips in beautiful landscapes or multi-day vacation trips are available to you as an option. With a cyclocross bike you have the possibility to use it all year round. It feels comfortable in any weather and offers a good grip on muddy surfaces.
With an e-bike you are in the best hands if you prefer a motor for support. On road bikes, it can make the last kilometers or steep climbs easier for you. If you prefer to ride down the trails on a mountain bike, the drive also gives you a helping hand uphill. For leisurely tours in everyday life, they can be used without any problems. If necessary, you have the option to switch on the motor for a more relaxed ride.
Cannondale drives since the beginning of its own philosophy in developing
The goal was to get away from the usual thinking and design bikes with a new approach. The company has been around for more than half a century and is constantly bringing high-quality innovation to the market. Since the beginning, they have relied on carbon and aluminum, when many in the industry were still making their bikes out of steel.
They reaped partial confused looks, but they have not let themselves be put off. The Lefty fork is a good example of where a focused vision can lead. The competition must recognize with envy that imagined madness is often better than they may admit.
If you can't decide on one of the many models, contact us at Buycycle. Our staff will be happy to help you out and clear up any ambiguities. In case of long delivery times for a new bike, we recommend a used bike. There you can always find bargains with a very good price-performance ratio.
