The Italian brand Wilier Triestina was founded more than a hundred years ago in San Fortunato, more precisely in 1906 by Pietro Dal Molin from Bassano del Grappa. However, the company's headquarters are now in Rossano Veneto.
After the Second World War, the Italian company had its own professional cycling team for a few years, which also rode under the Wilier Triestina name, and in 1948 they won the Giro d'Italia title with Fiorenzo Magni. In 1997, Marco Pantani, known as a pirate, rode the Tour de France on a Wilier bike and since 2020, they have been providing the bikes for the Astana Pro Team. The use in professional cycling also benefits the new products in the Wilier range every year, as the experience gained is regularly incorporated into series production.
The racing bikes are divided into three sections: racing bikes, endurance bikes, and leisure bikes, with options also available as e-racing bikes. The e-racing bikes are trimmed for maximum performance but also feature an integrated motor in the frameset, allowing you to master longer distances effortlessly.
The racing bikes include the Wilier Filante SLR, Wilier O SLR, Wilier O SL, Wilier Cento10SL, Wilier Rave SLR, Wilier Superleggera, Wilier Garda, Wilier GTR Team, or Wilier GTR Team Disc. These road bikes are equipped with the latest technology to deliver outstanding performance and enable riders to reach new top speeds. While road bikes are not typically designed for trekking tours, some models can still be used for shorter trekking rides, provided you don’t plan on spending hours in the saddle. For instance, the Cento10 SL Disc is an older model year bike, along with the Wilier Cento10 NDR and Wilier Zero SLR.
The Wilier O SL, Wilier Cento10SL, Wilier Rave SLR, Wilier Superleggera, Wilier Garda, Wilier GTR Team, and Wilier GTR Team Disc serve as excellent endurance bikes. With a focus not solely on top speed but also on a comfortable seating position, they prevent fatigue in the neck and back area during longer tours. The Wilier Montegrappa is available as an endurance road bike, while the endurance e-bikes include the Wilier Filante Hybrid, Wilier Cento1 Hybrid, and Wilier Triestina Hybrid. These endurance bikes are perfectly capable of handling your trekking excursions, allowing for a leisurely ride through the streets while quickly ramping up speed for brisk kilometers.
For leisure cycling, the Wilier Superleggera, Wilier Garda, and Wilier Montegrappa are great options, with e-bikes in this category including the Wilier Filante Hybrid, Wilier Cento1 Hybrid, and the Wilier Triestina Hybrid.
The reason some Wilier road bikes fit multiple categories is their versatile frameset, designed to accommodate various uses.
In addition to road bikes, Wilier also offers triathlon bikes, mountain bikes, and gravel bikes, such as the Wilier Jena and Wilier Jareen, along with other e-bikes across endurance and leisure categories. Whether for trekking, road biking, cyclocross tours, MTB use, or gravel biking, these bikes cater to different riding styles and frame sizes, up to size XXL for taller riders. You can choose between aluminium frames and carbon frames depending on your preference and budget. While aluminium bikes are often the more affordable option, they do not necessarily compromise on road performance.
Since Wilier uses similar components as Bianchi, especially regarding shifting groups like Campagnolo Ekar, Wilier bikes are easily comparable to Bianchi products.
From Campagnolo, SRAM, and Shimano for the shifting groupsets, to Ritchey, Prologo, FSA, and Selle Italia for the cockpit, as well as Vittoria for the tyres, there is an extensive selection of high-quality components in the equipment of Wilier bikes. The company relies on years of experience from its own research and development, which has produced high-quality innovations since the company's inception.
Depending on the model, Wilier offers several drivetrains, enabling you to choose the same bike with components from different manufacturers or various product series from one brand, whether for MTB or road cycling. For road bikes, options include Campagnolo Ekar, SRAM Force AXS, Shimano Ultegra, and Shimano Ultegra Di2, as well as SRAM eTap AXS, Shimano Tiagra, SRAM Rival XPLR eTap, Shimano GRX, Shimano 105, or even Shimano Dura Ace Di2, among others.
Many newer Wilier models are equipped with modern disc brakes, although some bikes still feature rim brakes. However, if you prioritize braking performance, disc brakes are the way to go.
Unlike MTB, suspension is unnecessary for a road bike, neither at the front nor back. Primarily, you ride on paved roads, and you don't want the added weight on a bike optimized for speed.
For saddles, they rely on Italian brands like Selle Italia, such as the Selle Italia Flite Boost, or Prologo, including the Prologo Dimension AGX or Prologo Kappa. In terms of seatposts, they favor in-house designs like the Rave SLR Custom Made or the Filante Custom Made while also sourcing from different suppliers, such as the dropper posts from Promax, Ritchey Classic Silver, or FSA Gossamer SB20. Handlebars and stems come from various suppliers like FSA Omega and Cinelli Giro d'Italia.
For wheels, which include rims, spokes, and hubs, the company mainly depends on its research, though Campagnolo wheels are occasionally used. Vittoria is the preferred tyre option, with choices like the Vittoria Zaffiro Pro or Vittoria Corsa Speed.
Since you're after top speed on a road bike, it makes sense to add tight-fitting racing clothing to your shopping basket. Furthermore, it doesn't hurt to carry a few tools or spare parts to resolve minor issues directly, saving you time and money that you can invest in the bike or its equipment.
With a mountain bike, every trip to the bike park or the mountains becomes a pure experience. You can master downhill and uphill trails, depending on suspension travel and chassis geometry. Wilier offers the Wilier Usma SLR, Wilier Ultra SLR in the 2022 range, alongside the Wilier 110FX and the Wilier 101X in the Race MTB series, as well as the Wilier E903TRN Pro and Wilier 503X Pro MY2023 in the Endurance category. Gravel bikes provide excellent performance on the road while also handling bumpy side trails, making them suitable for trekking tours and commuting. Depending on your tyre choice, you can achieve faster speeds or gain better grip on loose terrain. For gravel racing, consider the Wilier Rave SLR and Wilier Jena, and for gravel endurance, there’s the Wilier Jena Hybrid and Wilier Jareen. The Wilier Jena, Wilier Jaroon, Wilier Jareen, and Wilier Jena Hybrid are great leisure gravel bikes. For triathlon, the aerodynamic Wilier Turbine stands out, seriously aiding your quest for speed.
