The home of Wilier Triestina is located in the tranquil Rosano Veneto in the province of Vicenza, Italy in the Veneto region. If you want to pick up your bike directly on site, the best option is a jaunt to Venice. This way, the first ride can be enjoyed with a wonderful ice cream and sunset in summer temperatures. The beginnings of the company began over 100 years ago, when Pietro Dal Molin from Bassano del Grappa took over the English company Wilier. Until that time, there were only a few foreign brands, which were not only relatively expensive, but it was also difficult to find a workshop that could fix them in case of defects or minor problems. A few years later, the bicycle became more and more a means of daily transportation and the Wilier bikes enjoyed increasing popularity among the population.
Wilier gravel bikes come in several styles as well as price ranges. Gravel bikes can cost up to 10,000 euros at the high end, and at Wilier, the Rave SLR is at the high end of the company's range at just under 6,000. After that, you'll find the Wilier Jena Hybrid, which is an e-bike, followed by the Wilier Jena without a motor, in the mid-range and in the lower price range you'll find the Wilier Jaroon as well as the Wilier Jareen. No matter which of these endurance gravel bikes you choose, you're guaranteed to be able to take trips where other riders would already switch to an MTB. They feel extremely comfortable on uneven terrain, and even steep gravel roads, both uphill and downhill, are easy tasks for the Wilier gravel bikes. From leisurely tours enjoying nature to daring adventures, everything is possible with these bikes. If necessary, they can be used as road bikes on the road and with wide tires, they also serve as MTB replacements. If you're looking for more budget-friendly options, check out our gravel bikes under $500, gravel bikes under $1,000, gravel bikes under $2,000, and gravel bikes under $3,000.
In the Wilier Rave SLR, several cycling aspects and features of other bikes, such as from the cyclocrosser, have been merged. It was chosen the geometry and speed of the road bike, the comfort and endurance of an endurance bike, as well as the good off-road properties of a gravel or cyclocross bike. The result was the new Rave SLR, which can all-road just as well as demanding gravel tours. Pedals are not included with the Rave SLR.
Artist Dustin Klein lent a hand at the Wilier Jena, and the result was a bike that came to market with novel Deko design. It has a lightweight carbon frame, with geometry from the road bike and good agility required off-road. It can be used for the way to work as well as on trips to the mountains or even for longer bikepacking or trekking tours from Germany to Italy. There are no limits to the adventures, and you have the free choice of how long you want to say goodbye to civilization if you just want to get away for a bit. Here, too, and also with the hybrid, the pedals must be purchased separately, but you can add them directly to your shopping cart at Wilier.
As the name suggests, the geometry of the frame for the Wilier Jena Hybrid is based on the design of the Wilier Jena and shows its ability on all surfaces. It offers an equally comfortable seating position, with which one sits comfortably in the saddle even after longer tours. The Jena Hybrid is equipped with solid components and the rims can be chosen from carbon or aluminum, depending on your preference. In addition, the hybrid e-bike still has an Ebikemotion motor that can be set to the different levels via the control system on the handlebars, depending on how much help you prefer when pedaling.
The Wilier Jaroon is equipped with a steel frame as well as a monocoque carbon fork with thru axle. To give the gravel bike its flexibility, attachment points for mudguards have also been added to the frame, and the fork has a 42mm tire clearance.
The cheapest gravel bike in the current range is the Wilier Jareen, with a 6061 double-butted aluminum frame, which also has the Wilier usual fully integrated cable pulls, which not only leaves a tidy impression, but is also beneficial for extended cable life. Just because the bike is not equipped with the premium components, you do not need to stop at MTB use, adventurous trekking tours or a cyclocross ride, because here too maximum versatility is the order of the day.
In addition to gravel bikes, the Italians also offer road bikes, mountain bikes, and triathlon bikes. On the homepage, different bikes can be placed next to each other to get an idea of where the differences are between MTB, gravel bike, or road bike. As with many bicycle manufacturers, you should always consider the current delivery times and under certain circumstances, it also makes sense to get a used bike. So you save not only long delivery times but also get, with a little luck and patience, a high-quality bike that you probably would not have treated yourself so new.
Especially with the shifting groups, the gravel bikes can be selected in many different variants, whereby everyone will find his happiness and it is set on top-class manufacturers such as Shimano, Campagnolo, or SRAM. Also in the other components are well-known suppliers, such as Vittoria, FSA, Kenda, Ritchey, or even Prologo. To round off the whole package, the innovations from the own house are used, which were designed in part specifically for the respective model.
When choosing for the rear derailleur, front derailleur, or other parts of the shifting group, the 3 market-leading manufacturers come into play, and it is used, among others, the Campagnolo Ekar, Shimano GRX 1x11, SRAM Force eTap AXS, Shimano GRX Di2, SRAM Rival or even the Shimano Ultegra. Whether to choose the Campagnolo Ekar, Shimano GRX 1x11, Shimano Ultegra, SRAM Rival, or Force eTap AXS depends either on personal preferences or also on the budget since there are large differences in price.
All of the gravel novelties of the Italians are equipped with powerful disc brakes. They impress significantly by their better braking power compared to rim brakes and bring even in mud and wet still the required performance. Disc brakes are somewhat more expensive to purchase, but are definitely worth it to have a safe ride, especially in adverse weather conditions and demanding routes.
When it comes to the cockpit, among other things, in-house developments are used, such as the Road Titan Rail saddle or products from suppliers, such as the Prologo Dimension AGX. The same scheme also applies to the seatpost, with the Rave SLR Custom Made or the Ritchey Comp seatpost. For the handlebars, one also partly relies on the quality of Ritchey with the Ritchey Ergomax Road Comp handlebar in conjunction with the Ritchey Comp stem. Furthermore, the components of Prologo or from their own development department are also used.
For the Rave SLR, for example, the Miche Graff Alu or also the Wilier Triestina wheels are used, and for the tires, Vittoria is a welcome choice, such as with the Vittoria Terreno Dry Rigid or also the products of Kenda, such as the Kenda Happy Medium.
Suitable accessories for your trekking tours are, for example, bottle cages including water bottle, a luggage rack, or bike bags, where you should always pack some tools. Also, for necessary cookies as an energy carrier, you should always leave enough storage space in your bike bags, whether for one-day trekking trips or multi-day bikepacking trips.
