Giant gravel bike - everything you need for off-road touring
Giant has been around for half a century and was founded by King Liu in Taiwan in 1972. With King's knowledge of the manufacturing process, Giant began producing bikes for some of the top bicycle brands before launching the first Giant bikes in 1981. After a great reception in Taiwan, the bikes began to be sold in Europe, North America, and other areas of the world, with ever-increasing success. Over the years, the product range has gradually expanded, and in addition to gravel bikes, there are also road bikes, mountain bikes, cross bikes, e-bikes, and kids bikes. The Giant Revolt is a very impressive example of excellent development work in the field of gravel bikes. It has been part of the Giant range since 2013 and has been constantly optimized over the years. At this early stage, when gravel bikes were only just emerging as a category, gravel riders had the option of either modifying a cyclocross bike or a road bike so that they could use it for their desired purpose. With the development of the Revolt bike, a remedy was found, thanks to a sloping top tube, sharply lowered seat stay, disc brakes, and a slim carbon seat post. What seemed very progressive at the time has now become widely established due to its good handling, both on and off the road. At the same time, the Revolt bikes were also the inspiration for a number of other bicycle concepts in order to give riders more possibilities to go to their limits, especially on changing terrain, such as gravel use. Not only are Revolt bikes becoming more popular, but so are gravel bikes in general. The events are regularly sold out and are increasingly arousing the curiosity of the pros to take part. Due to the resulting demand for competitive bikes, Giant then launched the Revolt Advanced Pro and Revolt Advanced, which are even more flexible. More about the individual models and submodels in a moment. Whether you want to make your first long tour on different terrain, compete for victories, or simply have the right bike for wherever trekking takes you in your area, the Revolt is exactly the right bike. It impresses with its lightness, efficiency, super handling and adapts perfectly to its surroundings. The Revolt is available as a basic model, with the Giant Revolt in two different versions, then as the Giant Revolt Advanced, with the Giant Revolt Advanced 0, Giant Revolt Advanced 1, Giant Revolt Advanced 2, and the Giant Revolt Advanced 3, as well as the Giant Revolt Advanced Pro as the Giant Advanced Pro 0 or Giant Advanced Pro 1. In addition, the Giant Revolt Advanced and Giant Revolt Advanced Pro framesets are also available. The Revolt standard version, model year 2021, as well as the 2022 novelties, each have an ALUXX frame. The ALUXX aluminum frame makes it a lightweight and a real all-rounder, whether dirt roads or scenic back roads. Pure riding fun is guaranteed, and the Revolt is ideally suited for when you just have to get out of your normal everyday life. It also offers enough tyre clearance if you prefer to put wider tyres on the rims, and even on long journeys, seating comfort is still guaranteed thanks to the D-Fuse Composite Seatpost and Contact XR D-Fuse handlebars. With the Flip Chip technology, the tyre clearance and wheelbase of the Revolt Advanced can be changed in order to optimally adjust it to the rider and the respective terrain. In combination with the new carbon frame, the bike is not only more efficient than before, but also glides more elegantly and comfortably through the terrain. The further optimized carbon frame of the Revolt Advanced Pro Gravel Bike, in addition to the reduced weight and high stiffness, results in improved handling and offers even more performance, regardless of the surface. With this masterpiece you will also be able to compete for the podium or even win; the possibilities are endless. The wheelbase and tyre clearance are also adjustable for maximum driving pleasure.
Well-known manufacturers throughout in the selection of components
If the high-quality developments from the own company are not used, manufacturers such as SRAM, Shimano, FSA, Tektro, or Maxxis are used.
Derailleur groups & brakes
Chainrings, bottom bracket, rear derailleur and shifters, for example, are components of the shifting group, along with other parts. Among others, the Shimano Sora, Shimano GRX, e.g. as Shimano GRX RX-810 or Shimano GRX RX-815, are used, as well as the Shimano Tiagra, Shimano Ultegra, FSA Omega Adventure, and SRAM Rival eTap AXS. SRAM and Shimano products are also used for the brakes, as well as Tektro. Giant Gravel bikes now also only use the ultra-modern and efficient disc brakes, which are far superior to rim brakes nowadays. Not only do disc brakes react much more sensitively, but you also need less effort to brake. This not only reduces the strain on your hands, but also makes riding safer. In addition, the disc brakes still achieve the desired performance even in adverse weather conditions, such as wet and muddy surfaces.
Damper
A sensible carbon fork reduces vibrations so that you can ride safely and sensitively even on rough terrain. For example, the Advanced-Grade Composite or the Advanced SL full carbon fork are used.
Saddle / seatpost and handlebar / wheels
The saddle and seatpost are based on Giant's own innovations, such as the Giant Approach saddle and the Giant Contact SLR D-Fuse seatpost, which can also be replaced with a dropper post to adjust the riding position to the terrain. Handlebars and stem also come from our own development, such as the Giant Contact SLR XR D-Fuse carbon handlebar or the Giant Contact stem. If the cockpit is properly coordinated, it gives the rider the ideal seating position to sit as comfortably as possible on the bike even on longer tours. If you don't take this into account, you will have problems with your back on bikepacking and trekking tours in the long run, so you should get help from a specialist if you need it. When it comes to rims and wheels, the company also relies on the quality of its own research department, such as the Giant P-X2 Disc, Tubeless Ready or the Giant CXR 1 Disc Carbon, Tubeless Ready. In addition to the Maxxis Receptor Tubeless Ready, Giant developments are also used for the tyres, such as the CrossCut AT1 Tubeless Ready or the CrossCut AT 2 Tubeless. Thanks to the consistently good research and development work in connection with a mature manufacturing process, for which Giant has always stood, they have managed to optimally adapt the components to their own framesets.
Additional equipment
If you want to use the Giant Revolt for bikepacking, it is best to add mudguards, luggage racks, or other necessary accessories to your shopping basket. Since pedals are not included in the scope of delivery, it is best to buy them at the same time. On the Liv website, you can also find chic accessories that have been designed especially for women.
Is the innovative Giant Revolt the right choice for me?
To make sure that you have chosen the right bike, it is best to go through all the options again, be clear about the area of use and which frame size you need.
